Domestic Violence is not cool! It's not alright for anyone to hit, push, shove, slap or punch you or your children. You should also recognize that mental abuse is still abuse. Don't listen to anyone that puts you down in anyway. If your spouse tell you that they love you one minute and the next they call you an ugly name or tell you that you are stupid I would seriously question their claim of love! Realize that when you truly love a person you want to build them up not tear them down. And then there is the matter of sexual abuse. When we are married we believe that we have to right, I mean it's our duty right? WRONG maybe you have a headache or just don't feel good if you say no, then no means no. Remember if your spouse loves you then above all else he/she will show you the respect that you deserve! Now for the reason for this blog post. On Monday, November 12, 2014 Patti Chulick (Owner of What Do I Know? Tees N Mo') and I went to the Fifth Street Ministries in Statesville NC. We learned so much about the wonderful services that are offered to folks who have unfortunately been abused and or raped. So if you find yourself in an abusive relationship or if you have been raped or your children have been abused please reach out to these folks at the Fifth Street Ministries and they will know where and how to get you the help you need. They offer shelter, counseling, food, toiletries and so much more. They also let us know that they are already thinking about the fact that Christmas is coming. They want to give the Mothers the ability to give their children a Christmas. We sure met some great people today with big hearts and we are so lucky to have people in our communities that are willing to give so much of themselves. To wrap up this post let me say to you that if you or your children are being hurt in anyway please reach out for help. I believe if you reach out you will find a friendly hand reaching back. There are so many resources out there and a great place to start is The Fifth Street Ministries. They have a wonderful program for victims of domestic violence, family abuse, rape or sexual assault. Don't ever let anyone hurt you or your children! 24-Hour Crisis Lines: (Local) 704-872-3403 (National) 800-799-SAFE (Espanol) 704-880-1042 |
